Online JSON Formatter ("this site," "we," "us") provides free, client-side JSON formatting, validation, comparison, schema, and conversion tools. This policy explains what happens — and, more importantly, what does not happen — to your data when you use it.
Every tool on this site (the Formatter, Compare, Schema, and Convert pages) runs entirely in your own browser using JavaScript. The JSON you paste, upload, or type is parsed, formatted, diffed, validated, or converted locally on your device. It is never uploaded to, transmitted to, or stored on any server we operate. We have no way to see, log, or retain the content you work with.
We do not require or offer account creation, so we don't collect names, emails, or passwords. We don't collect, log, or transmit the JSON documents, schemas, or any other content you paste into the tools. We don't use third-party analytics or advertising scripts that track your activity on this site.
The site uses your browser's own localStorage for two small, optional conveniences: remembering your light/dark theme choice, and (on the Formatter page) automatically saving your last input so an accidental refresh doesn't lose your work. Both are stored only on your device, are never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time — the theme by switching it again, and the autosaved input with the "Clear" button or by clearing your browser's site data.
Like essentially any website, the infrastructure that serves these pages may keep standard, short-term technical logs (such as IP address, browser user-agent, and requested URL) for security and operational purposes — for example, detecting abuse or diagnosing outages. These logs are a function of how the web works, are not tied to any account (since there are none), and never include the content of your JSON.
This site does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Your local theme and autosave preferences are stored via localStorage, not cookies.
This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age — by design, it doesn't collect personal information from any user at all.
If this policy changes — for example, if a feature is added that changes how data is handled — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change.
